Inside My World

This album was created for the 7th itch.io OST Composing Competition. Participants were given a week to create at least 3 minutes of music for a game with the theme, "Inside My World."

I chose to channel feelings from my current living situation - halfway across the world, feeling isolated; almost like I'm drowning. Suspended in strangeness and unknowing.

From the picture prompt provided, I visualized an underwater RPG whose protagonist has just endured the loss of their mother and must find a way to survive underwater by traveling from one pocket of air to another. At first, they don’t know how they can go on without their mom, but eventually they find strength in their journey.

My piece title, “Ten Years From This Second,” uses a voice over from the film The Last Woman On Earth in which the main character must choose who to be with at the end of the world. A late professor of mine, Dale Sherrard, instilled in me a love of found objects and I wanted to dedicate part of my return to sound shaping to him in some way.

I thought of "Subaqueous Spotlight" as an equivalent to Mario's underwater theme. It's bubbly and fun and erodes into a daydream.

And "Hearbeat of a Planet" is meant to be a lifeline of sorts to the future, a belief in better things to come.

This is my first composition jam experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Please take a listen and let me know what you think.
